Pharrell and Ellen strike back to homophobic and hatred comments made by pastor and singer Kim Burrell during a recent sermon.

Comments were recently made by gospel singer and pastor Kim Burrell about homosexuality, and she’s standing by them.

"“To every person that is dealing with the homosexual spirit, that has it, I love you because God loves you. But God hates the sin in you and me, anything that is against the nature of God. I’m called to do what God called me to do, and that’s it, and I do it with passion.”"

She said this during a facebook live event and continued to speak of homosexuality as a sin. This was just before Burrell was supposed to appear on The Ellen Show to sing a song she did with Pharrell. Ellen’s response was simple, “she said some very not nice things about homosexuals so I didn’t feel that was good of me to have her on the show to give her a platform after she was saying things about me.”Proud of you, Ellen.

Ellen and Pharrell then go on to explain why comments and thoughts like that are just unacceptable right now.

Some of Pharrell’s word’s forever engrained in my mind: “There’s no space, there’s no room for any kind of prejudice in 2017 and moving on. There’s no room.” By the end of the segment, he had me completely in tears (and I’d assume others, as well). Because he’s right. We’ve come so far in our fight to civil rights and social justice, and we have no room in this world for people who are fighting against us.

So, with that: thank you to everyone fighting with us, standing beside us, and speaking up for us.
