A brand new edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is coming for 2017. And now we’ve learned it brings new magical creatures.
Breaking news this morning, on the updated edition of the original Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. As we reported last year, in the wake of the mvoie’s release, Bloomsbury publishing planned to re-release the slim textbook that was once a part of the “Hogwarts Library” collection, along with Quidditch Through The Ages and The Tales of Beedle The Bard. Now we have new information on that re-release.
According to Pottermore, the promise of “new content” in the re-released volume goes beyond just J.K. Rowling’s new forward to the book. We also now have the official release date, beyond “First Quarter 2017.”
"Six new magical creatures will feature in this up to date edition, out on 14 March, as well as a brand new foreword from Magizoologist Newt Scamander and some beautiful line illustrations by artist Tomislav Tomic."
Along with the new illustrations, and the new creatures we will be introduced to in the new edition, Pottermore has revealed the cover art of the new edition. Last year, all of the cover art for the original harry Potter books underwent an update, and these new editions are made to match, including a e-Book cover by Olly Moss, who did the e-Book editions of the Potter series.
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them was originally created by J.K. Rowling in 2001 as a gimmick to raise money for charity. With the re-release of the original, the publishers will continue that tradition.
"Proceeds from the sale of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will go towards Comic Relief and Lumos – J.K. Rowling’s own children’s charity. Both charities aim to help some of the world’s most vulnerable children and young people have a better life."
