A Culturess Christmas Playlist
Whitney Houston “Joy to the World”, “Do You Hear What I Hear?”
I really miss Whitney Houston. As a kid, the first non-Disney movie I really remember watching and falling in love with was “The Bodyguard”, and anytime “I Will Love You” comes on the radio, I still belt it out as if I have a snowball’s chance to match the vocal power of one of the best singers of our time.
It’s not just the fact that she’s gone that I have added two of her holiday recordings to the list. If she were still alive, I’d still have added these tracks. They are great additions to any holiday playlist because they are recognizable, but Whitney’s versions fly under the radar a bit. So any chance I get to throw in a little Whitney, I will take.
"Said the night wind to the little lamb, “Do you see what I see? Way up in the sky, little lamb, Do you see what I see? A star, a star, dancing in the night With a tail as big as a kite, With a tail as big as a kite.” Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy, “Do you hear what I hear? Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy, Do you hear what I hear? A song, a song high above the trees With a voice as big as the sea, With a voice as big as the sea.”"
