J.K. Rowling reveals which Ilvermorny Houses Tina and Queenie were in

Which houses were Tina and Queenie Goldstein in when they were at Ilvermorny? J.K. Rowling reveals details. She says where she would be, as well.

It’s been a few weeks since Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hit theaters and we met Tina and Queenie Goldstein, magical sisters living in New York City. They’ll be appearing in four more movies (well, at least one more), and J.K. Rowling is giving us a few more details about them.

In the movie, Queenie and Newt Scamander get into a brief argument about the best wizarding school in the world: is it Hogwarts or Ilvermorny? Ilvermorny is an American school Rowling invented especially for this new series of films. Like Hogwarts, it has four houses: Horned Serpent, Wampus, Pukwudgie and Thunderbird. However, their meanings are a little more vague. Here’s what Rowling writes on the subject in a story she wrote for Pottermore:

"It is sometimes said of the Ilvermorny houses that they represent the whole witch or wizard: the mind is represented by Horned Serpent; the body, Wampus; the heart, Pukwudgie and the soul, Thunderbird. Others say that Horned Serpent favours scholars, Wampus, warriors, Pukwudgie, healers and Thunderbird, adventurers."

So where did the sisters study?

And what about Jacob Kowalski, the No-Maj who wishes he were a wizard?

And MACUSA president Seraphina Picquery:

Fun note: Seraphona Picquery was offered a place in all four of the Ilvermorny houses, something that happens only very rarely. (Sorting at Ilvermorny happens differently than at Hogwarts.)

Rowling even deigned to reveal what House she herself would be placed in.

Curious about where you would fit in Ilvermorney? Pottermore has a quiz for you. Unlike at Hogwarts, there doesn’t seem to be a “bad” house, a la Slytherin. So you’re in the clear no matter what.
