12. Luke Skywalker

Bear with us for a moment. With such a long period between the original trilogy and the events of The Force Awakens, there are plenty of years to fill up with stories about the further adventures of Luke Skywalker. The original extended universe did this a lot, perhaps too much, depending on your general opinion of Luke.

Even the new comics from Marvel namechecked Skywalker for the first arc of the main Star Wars series. Such is the power of the surname to captivate attention.

However, stories of Luke’s attempts to revive the Jedi Order might be a perfect part of a putative Journey to Episode IX campaign, since Journey to The Force Awakens did pretty well for itself. (This, of course, presumes that Episode VIII will have plenty of big reveals about Kylo Ren’s turn to the Dark Side and what led Luke to Ahch-To in the first place. This is a bet we are willing to make.)

Besides, Mark Hamill has had quite the career in voice-acting as of late…why not put those skills to use in a series? Alternatively, we wouldn’t say no to a long novel series like the New Jedi Order in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

Perhaps they could call it the New New Jedi Order to differentiate.
