Orange Is The New Black is the Netflix juggernaut that pretty much put the network on the original programming map. The story of the upper middle class white girl who goes to prison for drug trafficking was unlike anything we’d seen before and audiences ate it up whole. With a less than likable protagonist, we fell in love with the other inmates as we got to see their backstories and invest in them as whole pictures. The series went a long way to humanize prisoners in a time when they had previously only been defined by the crimes they committed.

Watching the ladies of Litchfield suffer through a holiday that is meant to be spent with loved ones is a keen reminder of the determining factors that contribute to the overpopulated prison system, but it never feels like we’re getting a lecture.

After watching “Fucksgiving,” the ninth episode in the first season of Orange Is The New Black, you better never, ever complain about what lands on your Thanksgiving plate.

Piper is forced into solitary confinement after some raunchy dance moves, and her feast consists of a moldy bologna and no visit from Larry. It wasn’t called “Fucksgiving” for nothing.
