Get a sneak peak at Fantastic Beasts with Newt Scamander’s scrapbook

Check out a few pages from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Newt Scamander: A Movie Scrapbook. It includes a glimpse of a new creature.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them isn’t the only Harry Potter-themed property coming out on November 18. That’s also when Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Newt Scamander: A Movie Scrapbook will hit bookstores.

Okay, first of all, that is one ungainly title. But the actual book looks fun. Recently, publisher Bloomsbury unveiled a few new promotional shots from inside. Let’s take a look.

The introduction walks us through the premise of the movie, which you probably already know by now. How will magizoologist Newt Scamander write his classic textbook? We’re about to find out.

It’s a lovely panorama of New York City in the 1920s. Witches and wizards not pictures. But they’re there. Oh, they’re there.

It’s an ambitious setting for a fantasy movie, and I’m excited to see how well Rowling and the production team pull it off.

Above, we have Newt and No-Maj Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) hanging out. The other images we’ve already seen before. Although I guess now we know that the MACUSA headquarters is located in the Woolworth Building.

Both of the images on this page are new. On the left, we have Newt and Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston) at The Blind Pig speakeasy, looking like it’s the ’20s. And on the right, you can see Newt standing in a crowd, possibly listening to one of Mary Lou Barebone’s anti-wizard speeches. I imagine it’s hard for her to be taken seriously.

Of particular interest is the little guy in the lower right-hand corner. That’s a Fwooper, a fluffy pink bird found in Africa. It looks cute, but its song can drive you insane. Bring earmuffs.

We’ll get a look at the Fwooper, along with everything else that lives inside Newt’s case, soon enough.
