Comedians Jessica Williams (of The Daily Show fame) and Phoebe Robinson host this podcast, in which they feature their friends’ comedy while also talking amongst themselves about everything under the sun. The shows are largely recorded at live comedy gigs in New York, where Williams and Robinson do short sets in between introducing several comics per episode.
The show was born out of the host’s desire to combat a comedy scene that often fails to be inclusive – a criticism that affects both of them deeply as women of color. As such, 2 Dope Queens is committed to giving a voice to comedians and storytellers who are often ignored in the mainstream media. Robinson and Williams offer a diverse slate of comics every episode, and their material is so unique compared to the standard self-deprecating white guy experience that encompasses most of the comedy world. By featuring women, people of color, and non-straight/cis people on their show, Williams and Robinson are changing the comedy landscape, one Felicity reference at a time.
