I’m gay.

From the very beginning of the show, Danielle Ferrington plays an integral role in the murder investigations. She’s first on the scene when Sarah Kay’s home is broken into and proves to be loyal to Stella from the very start. Whether she’s reporting from the scene or trying to make sure Stella has everything she needs from her hotel room, Ferrington and Stella’s relationship can be described as friendly at the very least. Stella even asks Ferrington to be her right-hand woman after she’s promoted.

So when Ferrington casually tells Stella that she’s gay, she naturally seems slightly nervous about how her boss will react. Turns out, it isn’t a big deal at all and they simply get back to work as if nothing had been said. Why does it have to be a big deal that she’s gay? Are they supposed to sit around and have some “girl talk”? Should it change how Stella treats her? Of course not. Someone’s sexuality has no bearing on how they are able to do their job. In this scene, the lack of words speaks volumes.

The respect these women have for each other doesn’t have to be shown in a heart-to-heart chat, they just both simply do their jobs to the best of their ability.

Next: The media loves to divide women. Let's not let them.
