Why are women emotionally stronger than men?

Stella’s relationship with her boss Jim is…complex. They clearly have a history and now he just can’t manage to keep his feelings for her in check. In Season 1, he tells her that he would’ve left his wife for her — which she rightfully says would’ve been a terrible mistake. Stella isn’t vague about her feelings ever.

He also tells her she has no idea what effect she has on men. How is that her problem exactly? If you’re too weak to handle being around Stella, just stay away Jim. His creepy comments continue to escalate as the show moves forward and in Season 2, he makes the obviously poor decision to try to kiss her while he’s drunk — completely ignoring her protests. Luckily, Stella manages to hit him in the face and almost break his nose. Seriously, try to keep yourself from leaping up and applauding Stella right then. No means no, Jim.

She fixes him up the bathroom while he asks why women are emotionally stronger than men. Her answer is that “the basic human form is female” and that “maleness is a kind of birth defect”. But don’t worry, Jim hasn’t quite learned his lesson and Stella continues to school him. But, more on that later.
