I despise him.

It seems to be a popular opinion out there on the Internet that Stella is a cold and unfeeling woman, something of a psychopath herself. But nothing could be further from the truth. So she doesn’t get super emotional, but it’s more than obvious that she cares deeply about the victims she strives to avenge. So when Detective Tom Anderson asks Stella if she slept with him because he looks similar to Paul (he’s the murder if you need reminding), it’s shocking she doesn’t get up and leave right then. After everything she knows about Paul, does anyone really think she could be attracted to him? She quickly responds with the following anecdote:

“A woman, I forget who, once asked a male friend why men felt threatened by women. He replied that they were afraid that women might laugh at them. When she asked a group of women why women felt threatened by men. they said, We’re afraid they might kill us.”

So no, Tom there is no possible way Stella could be attracted to Paul or intrigued by him in any way. Basically, you’re dumb and in case you don’t fully get it, Stella spells it out pretty plainly when she says, “I despise him with every fiber of my being.” So do we Stella. So do we.
