Men can be monsters.

When Stella questions Paul in Season 2, Jim is totally (and justifiably) outraged and disgusted by Spector, claiming that he’s a monster. When Stella points out that Paul is just a man, Jim says he hopes that he’s nothing like Spector.

Ummm, hold on one second Jim. Should we recount all of your creepy moments for you? Okay, so you haven’t murdered anyone (that we’re aware of), but you’re not 100% innocent yourself. Stella won’t let him get away with that crap saying telling him that “you can see the world in that way if you want, you know it makes no sense to me.” Why? Because “men like Spector are all too human, too understandable.” Unfortunately, many women do see something recognizable in Spector. His blatant misogyny is something we see daily. In fact, Jim himself tried to force himself on Stella after she clearly said no only a few episodes earlier. Can you not draw this connection, Jim? Can you not see that attacking Stella while you were drunk is terrible?

Stella notes that many of us are in fact too easily capable of committing heinous acts. “He’s not a monster, he’s just a man.”

Next: Keep them coming.
