40 Celebrities We Need To Keep Safe From 2016
Composer/honoree John Williams attends American Film Institute’s 44th Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute to John Williams at Dolby Theatre on June 9, 2016 in Hollywood, California.
12. John Williams
What would Jaws be without its iconic score? What about The Empire Strikes back without “The Imperial March” or the Harry Potter series without “Hedwig’s Theme”? Just hearing any of these songs instantly transports you back to the time and the feelings you had seeing a killer shark or Darth Vader or a boy wizard for the first time. This is why we must protect composer and national treasure John Williams. I mean, the man is 84 years old. Williams has a career spanning all the way back to 1958 when he scored his first film, the B movie Daddy-O. Since then he has made music for numerous films and directors across multiple genres, but he is perhaps best known for his work on countless Steven Spielberg (who is also on this list) films such as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and Schindler’s List.
Yes he has had a long and prolific career, but 2016 has just been too much. The death of Williams would deprive us of a true cinematic icon and I cannot bear that happening after everything this year has put us through. It would be like losing a beloved and very talented grandfather. Plus he still has two more Star Wars films and the anthologies still to score. 2016 stay away!
