13. Stan Lee

Stan Lee needs to be protected from the ongoing horror of 2016. He’s 93 and in good health, as far as we know (thank goodness) but I’ll cry if this year takes him. Born in 1922, Stan Lee is a comic book writer, editor, and all around superstar. He created, alongside collaborators Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, the characters of Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Daredevil, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and tons of others. He basically built the Marvel universe we know and love and has cameos as characters like Man Crossing Street and FedEx Delivery Worker in the movie adaptations. He is the sweetest old man and still routinely attends conventions to meet his fans (18 in 2016!), although he did take a break in 2012 when he had a pacemaker put in. Understandable, I guess. I saw him at an airport once and he was super kind to the two teenage boys who approached him for a photo.

2016: Don’t take Stan Lee! There are so many more Marvel movies he needs to cameo in! Think of how awesome it will be when he gives his cameo blessing to Captain Marvel and Black Panther in their upcoming solo films!
