23. Peter Capaldi

Because cranky Scotsmen make everything better. No really, guys. I know for some the Doctor Who transition from Matt Smith to Peter Capaldi was far too jarring. (And some angry fans started exulting in an unseemly manner when Doctor Who‘s ratings fell in the states as a result.) But personally this is the best Doctor we’ve ever had, and I need a full Season 10 of him before I can even begin to consider saying goodbye.

Not that Season 10 is confirmed as Capaldi’s last season either. The man was a lifelong Who fanboy before landing the role (The oldest actor to play the Doctor since Peter Hartnell way back in the beginning.) He clearly thought he would depart when Moffat (who hired him) did the same. But now that the time to make the choice is upon him, he waffles. And that’s fine with me. I just need 2016 to agree to spare him so that we can enjoy 2017 and beyond together.
