NCIS (CBS)
Premiere Date: September 20th
NCIS is widely considered a top-tier of the fall TV shows but fans were stunned with a departure of a fan favorite. Critics and fan alike were shocked by the announcement of Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo) departure from the hit show he has called home for thirteen seasons. His decision is strictly based on Weatherly’s desire to do something different. No tears for Weatherly. He has found a new home on the new fall TV show called Bull. This is a massive chance for NCIS to appeal to an audience it has not represented in its thirteen seasons. NCIS announced they are adding Duane Henry, Jennifer Esposito, and Wilmer Valderrama as series regulars for Season 14. This is great news for that actors seeing as the show already has a guaranteed fifteenth season.
Criminal Minds (CBS)
Premiere Date: September 28th
Criminal Minds has enjoyed twelve fantastic seasons, but it is about to have a new look and feel. This change was not intentional for Criminal Minds producers or ABC. This came with the news that long time Criminal Minds lead actor, Thomas Gibson (Aaron Hotchner) was going to be suspended for two episodes for an altercation with a producer on the set of the hit show. In a bold move, ABC decided it was time to part ways with Gibson. Hotchner’s exit will be explained later in the twelfth season. This gives the show a real opportunity to shake things up and rebrand the show for a younger audience.
