4. Cate Blanchett
Out of all the actors on this list, Cate Blanchett is probably the one with the longest track record of playing fictional female characters out of nearly every time and place. From her depiction of the late Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator to her hypnotizing role opposite Rooney Mara in Carol, Blanchett is quite possibly one of the most mesmerizing actors currently working in Hollywood today. If you’re ticking off boxes on your mental list, she can also wear the hell out of a tailored suit.
There are some die-hard Bond fans who believe that James Bond should be a role given to a recognizable actor – and while Blanchett is in fact Australian and not British, that hasn’t stopped her from tackling a ton of different accents (and doing a killer job at all of them). Who could forget her imposing and impressive KGB agent Irina Spalko from an otherwise meh Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? 007 needs to be able to blend in to any potential scenario, and given Blanchett’s chameleonic talents there’s no question that she could infiltrate any villain’s lair with ease.
