4. Daenerys’ Targaryen Blacks (Season 6)

“FINALLY! DAENERYS TARGARYEN….HAS COME BACK…..TO WESTEROS.”

Ok, maybe that’s a tad premature, as her ships are merely on the Narrow Sea. She has not actually set foot on Westeros yet. But our last look at Dany is at a woman who has embraced who she was and her destiny. She knows who she is and where she is going as she leads her unlikely conglomerate of allies to Westeros and victory.

It wasn’t until she took charge of the Dothraki hordes in Season 6 that we saw the black color seep into her wardrobe. And yet, it was striking upon her return to Meereen, and her meeting with the Greyjoys, she was back to blue. A dark midnight blue, but blue nonetheless, as if she was still a Khaleesi, and not a Targrayen. The production waited until the finale to finally break out the black, when she broke up with Daario and readied to head West. And then, as the ship sailed towards Westeros, they finally gave her the gown we’ve been waiting for. Cut the same as her Meereenese ruler gown, but now in black, instead of white. Her shoulders are bedecked with dragons, the way Cersei’s have always been bedecked with lions. Dany is finally wearing the clothing that announces her to be who she is.

She is Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, the Unburnt, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Breaker of Chains, and Mother of Dragons. All shall love her and despair.
