11. Joffrey at the Purple Wedding (Season 4)

It was the last thing we saw Joffrey wearing, so perhaps fittingly, it was also his best. Dressed in a Lannister gold doublet, his wedding day outfit included long over-sleeves that echo the same long belled silhouette sported by his mother, a nod to her influence over him. And yet. And yet. The wine and blood color is gone. The reds of the Lannister designs he has worn all throughout his reign have disappeared replaced with… blue. His bride-to-be’s color, Tyrell blue. It’s not forward in the doublet, but is is the color that rests beneath the brocade pattern, helping it stand out. The accessories of the sash and belt are also a deep dark blue. This costume is all about Margaery’s influence on him and her getting to him from the inside out.

And that;s not the only thing that’s changed for this wedding. If one looks at the crown, you’ll notice it’s different from the one he’s wearing in Season 3. The stag horns are still there, but now there’s a vine growing in between them, wrapping themselves around the points. Another sign of the Tyrell influence? Because if one looks closer, you’ll realize, those vines are slowly strangling them. Turning him blue, as it were.
