13. Jon Snow’s Stark Outfit (Season 6)

For five long years, Jon Snow hasn’t been able to change his clothes. Ever since arriving at the Wall and joining the Night’s Watch all the way back at the beginning of Season 1, Jon could wear any color, as long as it was black. He could wear any cloak, as long as it was a black Night’s Watch cloak. You know why Jon Snow doesn’t smile? Because wearing all black gets depressing once you grown out of that rebellious teen goth phase when you think the idea of “taking the black” is cool.

Sartorially, stabbing Jon Snow was the best thing anyone’s done for him. Following the letter of the law, Snow got out of the Night’s Watch and out of the black on black on black. He got a new hairstyle (manbuns are now officially so very mid twenty-teens.) He magically found a set of Stark armor that perfectly matched the look we saw Ned Stark sporting all the way back in Season 1. (We’ll pretend he found it in Benjen’s closet.) For the first time in six years, we saw him smile. Add to that Sansa’s wolf cloak, and Jon Snow has stepped into his own, and into the role of King of the North.
