14. Daenerys’ Meereenese Conqueror Outfit (Season 4)

We talked a little bit earlier about Dany and her pleated white skirts and blue worked bodices. In Season 2, these were clothes she was wearing for the first time. She tried to fill them out and look powerful, while still protecting herself with large armor like accessories. By Season 5, she’s left the blue behind. But here, when she first takes control of Meereen at the end of Season 4, she’s at that last moment before the blue goes away completely. She is finally comfortable in a regal get up. She is the Queen of Meereen, and she knows it, and she is going to dress herself worthy of that name.

This is also one of Dany’s sexiest outfits. Note the large keyhole at the breast, and the arms, which are fully uncovered. She is confident enough not to wear layers of gold to announce her status. Note how all the embroidery work on the dress is specifically not gold or any sort of metallic color. Her accessories are actually a bare minimum of just a bracelet and a ring. As we saw from the beginning, Dany’s style is simple, but elegant, in power because she knows she is, not because she has to dress to show you.
