15. Cersei at Sansa’s Wedding (Season 3)

Sansa’s wedding was the pinnacle of Lannister power in King’s Landing. The audience doesn’t know it yet, but as this takes place, Tywin has already made the deal with the Freys that will take down Robb Stark. Tywin forced this marriage between Sansa and Tyrion. He was able to maneuver the Tyrells into it due to Littlefinger. (He did not want to risk losing her to the Tyrells either.) The Lannisters have secured the person who is about to become “Key to the North” under their name by marriage.

Cersei may be smug, but even in this great moment of triumph,  she too is just as trapped as Sansa. She’s under the thumb of her father. Cersei is forced into an “engagement” to Loras, which would be insulting because of the age difference alone. (Loras playing for the other team is the icing on that cake.) Her lack of control in this scene is clearly marked by the dress. After all, we know the “Cersei Style” look. It’s a form fitted bodice with an A line skirt with long bell sleeves that come to a point. This is doublet style bodice, with a large framing neck…funny, who have we already seen wearing that particular look?
