20 Classic Films That Could Be Rebooted with Female Leads

20. You’ve Got Mail, with Gina Rodriguez
Okay, okay. Granted, the original You’ve Got Mail did star a man alongside a woman in a classic rom-com scenario – but what would it look like if the Upper East Side version of this story was updated and modernized to star a pair just as endearing as Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan – say, Oscar Isaac and Gina Rodriguez? (Just typing that out gets me insanely excited, I’m not gonna lie.)
Rodriguez won us all over with her role in Jane The Virgin on The CW, which is basically like an ongoing romantic comedy in the best way. While Jane may or may not get to have her happy ending after all in the aftermath of last season’s cliffhanger, Rodriguez has gone on to star in more action films during her time off from working on Jane the Virgin. It would be fabulous to see her take on a slightly familiar story and make it her own, wholly and completely. And while most internet folks have proposed a potential Pride and Prejudice remake with Isaac and Rodriguez, it could be argued that You’ve Got Mail definitely bears a slight resemblance to Jane Austen’s classic. Plus: more of Gina Rodriguez is never a bad thing.
