20 Classic Films That Could Be Rebooted with Female Leads

19. Big, with Constance Wu
Wu may not be a household name yet, but she’s earned well-deserved recognition for her role as Jessica Huang in ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat (which was recently renewed for a third season!). In addition to her television role, Wu is also a refreshingly outspoken actress who doesn’t shy away from telling it like it is – especially when it comes to issues surrounding race portrayals and diversity in Hollywood. She’s got a natural, hilarious presence that seems almost effortless at times – and that’s why she should basically be earning all the film roles, but especially one that gives her the opportunity to show off her comedic chops.
Big was one of Tom Hanks’s early film roles, and his ability to convince audiences that he could very well be a young boy trapped in a grown man’s body made for a movie that is beloved to many. While most audiences know Wu as an actress who’s done comedy, it would be terrific to see her star in a film that allows for both funny and heartfelt moments. She may not be able to dance on the piano in FAO Schwartz, but she could definitely contribute to an equally memorable scene.
