17. Stand By Me, with Quvenzhané Wallis

Wallis doesn’t have very many credits to her filmography yet, but she’s becoming one of the biggest young rising stars in Hollywood. After her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild, she became the youngest actress to be nominated for an Oscar. She also took on the role of the orphan Annie and made it her own in the remake, starring alongside actors like Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz. Most recently, she was featured in Beyonce’s Lemonade. It stands to reason that there are so many more great things to come from Wallis moving forward, especially after all she’s accomplished thus far, but how about a suggestion for her next project?

Stand By Me was originally based on a Stephen King short story, and is a classic coming-of-age tale about a journey taken by four friends. When one thinks of a classic male friendship movie this one is usually on the list. While the film itself features four young men, there’s potential for a version featuring four young women – perhaps four up-and-coming actresses? Wallis would be a perfect choice for this remake, maybe alongside actresses like Amandla Stenberg, Rowan Blanchard and Ariel Winter. Sign me up.
