The wands passed out at the Fantastic Beasts SDCC panel turn out to be a prelude to adding them to the Noble Collection’s Harry Potter wand series.
The excitement of the Fantastic Beasts panel this past weekend was overshadowed by the movie’s marketers pulling off an elaborate stunt. They had someone managed to smuggle 6500 wands into the Hall H without anyone noticing, and proceeded to do one of the biggest giveaways of the weekend as everyone in attendance received a replica of Newt Scamander’s wand.
The big promotional photo of course was Eddie, at the end of the panel, then leading the entire hall of wand wavers in a cry of Lumos Maxima, and a lovely cue on the LED screen over the stage of the magic the fans produced.
But lost in the shuffle was the fact that these wands were not just any old sticks. When fans looked down at the packaging, they saw the mark of a quality Potter wand for Muggle fans. No, not Ollivander’s, that’s the mark of quality for wizards and witch’s wands. No, this mark, for the Muggle fans, is that of The Noble Collection.
The Noble Collection has been the purveyors of fine wands collectibles for years, and carry a large assortment of authenticated Potter replica props from the movies. And according to their Facebook page, the wands from the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series will be joining the Potter replicas as well “coming this fall.”
For those who might not want to wait until the September roll out of collectibles aimed for the Christmas season shopper, there is another way to get your hands on a Newt Scamander wand slightly earlier. Some of those wands given away this past weekend have already turned up on eBay for sale. Just make sure the person you’re buying from isn’t a scourer.
