J.K. Rowling has not only debuted a brand new video, a brand new story and the full history of Ilvermorny, but along with everything else, she has also written up questions for a brand new sorting quiz so that you can find out what house you would be in if you attended Ilvermorny. Which of the four Houses do you belong in: Thunderbird, Wampus cat, Horned Serpent or Pukwudgie?
I’ve taken the quiz this morning, and the questions are a nice mix of the sort of deep philosophical questions (Think of the question you would most like answered, by a person or an all-knowing being or device. Which of the following most closely resembles the answer you’d like to hear?), a sprinkling of American pioneer stereotypes (Would you rather hunt or heal?), and the sort of whimsical things one would expect from Rowling. (One question is merely: “Why?” The answers range from “Stupid Question,” to “Why Not?”)
I was slightly surprised by my results:
In Hogwarts, I am a proud Hufflepuff, and have been since I took the quiz when Pottermore debuted. Because of that I sort of assumed I would be a Pukwudgie–after all, it was the House that was named by a no-maj, (Helga Hufflepuff was notoriously pro-muggle) and it seemed like the most logical corresponding house, since they both have silly names. But no! I landed in Thunderbird, which most assumed would be the Ravenclaw equivalent. It suggests that these American houses are probably a bit more mixed. (I’ve always assumed if I wasn’t in Hufflepuff, I’d have landed in Ravenclaw), so perhaps being declared a Thunderbird is a bit like those house mash ups you see on FB and tumbr, and I am a Huffleclaw?
What House did you land in? does it correspond to your Hogwarts house? Sound off in the comments.
