Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Back in a familiar environ

Game of Thrones season 8 has called a familiar face back to a familiar location for production of the show, but how long will they be there?

Warning: They’re comparatively small, but they remain Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers nonetheless.

It looks like the trip to Dubrovnik is over for now at least when it comes to one of the major Game of Thrones stars. As r/freefolk has discovered, it appears that Kit Harington has returned to Belfast.

Like his recent jaunt to Dubrovnik, this report doesn’t have any photos attached just yet, but it’s tough to mistake pretty much anyone else for being Harington, no? Besides, as we’ve been talking about earlier this week both here at Culturess and on Winter is Coming Live, a certain set in Belfast looks like it’s closer and closer to completion.

Now, that’s some circumstantial evidence if ever we saw it, but it’s hard not to see some connections with the ongoing construction and the return to Belfast. Based on the Dubrovnik filming, we know that Jon Snow is in King’s Landing for at least part of season 8. What we weren’t sure on was the timing.

Is it possible that any attack on King’s Landing happens while Jon is there? It would make for a fascinating emotional dilemma for him. On the one hand, King’s Landing is his and Daenerys Targaryen’s ultimate goal. Defending it to ensure there’s something to be conquered would make sense. (Of course, that assumes that it’s the Night King leading an assault on the capital, as some have already proposed.) On the other, Cersei’s there, and Cersei living runs counter to the whole conquering goal.

Harington has already proven he can handle carrying massive fight scenes, after all. Additionally, it could cause some turmoil for Daenerys. She likely wouldn’t immediately know whether he was alive or dead.

Alternatively, Jon could be the envoy of peace while Daenerys looms outside the gates with dragons ready to open fire (literally) on King’s Landing if Cersei doesn’t surrender. However, the more we think about it, the more we think that’s a bit too underhanded for these two.

The report that Harington’s in Belfast didn’t come with any talk of where he was going or where he was — just in the city. However, now that we know he’s there, it’s time to see if we spot him near Titanic Studios next.
