With the Malone cover-up blown, Oliver finds his position as mayor in jeopardy. Here’s how you can watch tonight’s episode of Arrow online.

Secrets never last on TV, so we knew it was only a matter of time before Oliver’s decision to help suppress information about Billy Malone’s death backfired. Last week, Arrow finally let the cat out of the bag. An unknown source leaked the truth to the media. And now, an investigation is pending that could lead to impeachment.

Frankly, it should. Because the accusation is false, and covering up a murder (especially that of a police officer) is a gross abuse of power. Considering what’s happening in our real-life government, it’s rather disconcerting to be asked to root for a politician who has no qualifications and no qualms about bending the rules to suit his needs.

But Arrow ultimately cares less about political commentary than character development. How will Oliver and his team respond to the latest moral dilemma? So below is the plot synopsis for this week’s episode, “Fighting Fire with Fire”, courtesy of SpoilerTV:

"Oliver (Stephen Amell) faces his biggest challenge yet as mayor. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) continues down her dark path with Helix. After Vigilante attacks Oliver while he’s acting as the mayor, Diggle (David Ramsey) leads the team in a mission to stop Vigilante once and for all."

Vigilante, like Prometheus, has remained on the sidelines of late. He appeared in “Spectre of the Gun”, killing a mobster that the Arrow was interrogating, but his role was tangential. Will he finally be unmasked? In DC Comics, Vigilante is the alter ego of Adrian Chase, and we’ve been assuming that the show would follow suit.

The trailer for “Fighting Fire with Fire”, however, suggests otherwise. Check it out:

As you can see, Vigilante attacks Oliver in retaliation for the corruption scandal. The cover-up was Adrian’s idea in the first place, though, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to be angry about it. Regardless, withholding the identities of this season’s main antagonists has been surprisingly effective for Arrow so far. We just hope the payoff makes the mystery worthwhile.
